I purchased this programming tool kit to fix a longstanding TPMS warning light issue on the Honda Fit. This kit fixed the problem. I replaced all of the air pressure valves with the included valves in this kit, then I reprogrammed all valves. Warning light went away on dash. All tires hold proper and accurate air pressure.

There are many sensor manufacturers. They each program their sensors with their OWN devices. So to program a sensor you need their device specifically, as with the Dorman MultiFit sensors, you use their tool (974-505).

Most sensors can be READ by ANY tool as long as it has both the 313 and 433 Mhz capability.

This specific TPMS tool I bought will program the four included sensors, but not any others. Be aware there are pre-programmed sensors for almost every make and model of car, so programming is more for the Tire Shop trying to work with all sensors. Buying a pre-programmed one for your car is the EASIEST path.

I found the Dorman sensor (974-001) works for my 2007 Jeep GC with its unique 313 Mhz signal. Most are the 433 Mhz signal, so you need to research this for your specific car.

For diagnosis of an issue, as in my case, "left rear sensor low pressure warning" and "Service the tire monitoring system" messages were caused be a dead sensor. But I knew the wheels had been rotated so was not sure which of the two sensors was really bad. It could have been the front or rear drivers side. FYI, I could have had a tire shop do this for $40, but I figured the cost of this unit WITH 4 sensors was a better long-term deal.

OBDResource TPS30 in the Diagnose mode LOCATES the bad sensor by trying to READ each of the sensors. This occurs without turning on the car or doing anything with the monitoring system. You try to get each sensor to respond to this unit. In my case ALL 4, but the one driver's side front would respond. Even the Spare responded with their information and status which is NEEDED to setup the car monitoring system.

So I found the bad sensor and ordered a new Dorman DirectFit (model 974-001) pre-programmed as I did 4 years ago. Now I can go to the car shop and have the sensor replaced since it is inside the tire.

ALL tools can do this part. It is the PROGRAMMING of the sensor, not the car system that requires sensors compatible with the tool used. Most tools can program the car system with the OBD connector too.

I hope this helped. I spent WAY too much time trying to figure this much out.
